God is calling

Is God calling you into ministry?

All Christians are called by God, by virtue of our baptism, to enjoy his love, to love God in return and to serve God and others in our lives.  Another way of describing our ‘calling’ is to talk about ‘vocation’, a word which comes from the Latin word “vocare” meaning ‘to call’.

Vocation doesn't just apply to those people who are called to authorised ministry. All Christians have a vocation to witness to the transforming love of God through worship and service to others, using the gifts that God has given them.

Christ has no body now on earth but ours,
No hands but ours, no feet but ours;
Ours are the eyes through which to look out
Christ’s compassion to the world
Ours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good,
And ours are the hands with which he is to bless men and women now.
St Teresa of Avila (1515–82)
