Faculties - Public Notices

by Gerry Lynch last modified 22 Dec, 2015 04:03 PM

This page contains the public notices for Faculties for works which the Registrar or the Chancellor have identified as needing to be advertised on this web-site.

The Faculty Jurisdiction Rules 2000 have been replaced by the Faculty Jurisdiction Rules 2013, which came into effect on 1st January 2014.

The Rules affect the way in which the application process for Faculty permission for works to the fabric and furnishings of your churches and churchyards is carried out. This does not represent a change to the Faculty petition system itself, which is still covered under the Care of Churches and Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Measure 1991. Under Rule 8.9, it is necessary for some faculty applications to be advertised on this website if they meet the following criteria:

(i)      involving alteration to or the extension of a grade I or II* listed church to such an extent as would be likely to affect its character as a building of special architectural or historic interest (Rule 8.9(1)(a)); or

(ii)    involving alteration to or the extension of a grade II listed church to such an extent as both to affect its exterior and affect its character as a building of special architectural or historic interest (also Rule 8.9(1)(a)); or

(iii)     involving demolition affecting the exterior of an unlisted building in a conservation area (Rule 8.9(1)(b)).

The following current applications are, therefore, subject to rule 8.9:

Any objections to the above works should be sent to: The Diocesan Registrar, Diocesan Registry, Minster Chambers, 42/44 Castle Street, Salisbury, Wilts, SP1 3TX
