Salisbury Cathedral overview and significance.

Updated Listing = latest updates

Salisbury Cathedral is perhaps Britain’s finest medieval cathedral. It offers a warm welcome to the 250,000 who visit each year to marvel at the peace and beauty of the 750 year old building and admire Britain’s tallest spire. But it is much more than an historical building – above all it is a living, working church and the mother church of the Salisbury Diocese.

Salisbury Cathedral’s Purpose

Making a difference for God through exceptional worship and outreach.

We seek to be prayerful, compassionate proclaimers of the Christian faith helping all to encounter God and his transformative presence. Our continuing commitment is to develop a culture of faith and hope which is joyful, deeply serious and quietly confident.

We do this by focusing on three values in particular:

  • Integrity, reflected in transparent, fair and consistent actions;
  • Generosity, which generates a warm open welcome to all;
  • Compassion, which promotes social justice, equality, diversity, dignity, consideration and respect for all.
